For more than 40 years, American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) has been a cornerstone of youth sports in the Verde Valley. Since 1985, AYSO has provided local children with the opportunity to learn, play, and grow through soccer in a positive and supportive environment.

AYSO is more than just a soccer league. It is a community-driven program built on the belief that every child deserves a chance to play. Our program focuses on developing players not only as athletes, but also as teammates, leaders, and responsible members of the community.

Beyond providing players the opportunity to play soccer, AYSO offers training to coaches and referees that continue to serve soccer through middle school and high schools throughout the Verde Valley. 

AYSO mandates that ALL volunteers successfully pass a background check each year as well as complete safety and compliance training required to serve in their volunteer roles.

What makes AYSO different from many other youth sports programs is our commitment to six core philosophies:

Everyone Plays®
Every player on every team plays at least half of every game. We believe participation and development are more important than winning.

Balanced Teams
Teams are formed each season to be as balanced as possible so that games are competitive and fun for everyone.

Open Registration
AYSO welcomes all players regardless of skill level, experience, or financial ability. No tryouts are required to join our core program.

Positive Coaching
Our volunteer coaches are trained to encourage and develop players while creating a positive and supportive environment.

Good Sportsmanship
Respect for teammates, opponents, referees, and the game itself is central to the AYSO experience.

Player Development
Our programs are designed to help players grow their skills, confidence, and love for the game at every age level.

AYSO is powered by volunteers—parents, coaches, referees, and community members who dedicate their time to give local kids a great soccer experience. When families join AYSO, they’re not just signing up for soccer; they’re becoming part of a community.

For decades, AYSO has helped thousands of children across the Verde Valley experience the joy of soccer. Many of today’s volunteers once played in our program themselves, continuing a tradition of community involvement and youth development.
