Fall 2026 Soccer Program

AYSO Region 232's Core program is designed to allow kids ages 3 to 18 years old a chance to play soccer on fair and balanced teams with all players provided a guaranteed amount of playing time in every game. It is also a great chance for parents to volunteer and help support their kids.
  • Players must wear shin guards during practices and games.
  • Cleats are not required but highly recommended.
  • If they would like to bring their own ball, please make sure it's the correct size
  • Kickstart/Playground: Size 3 ball
  • 6U / 8U: Size 3 ball
  • 10U / 12U: Size 4 ball
  • 14U and Up: Size 5 ball
Although it is our desire to include every child who wishes to play soccer, as a practical matter registration is only available on a first come, first served basis. Many factors can contribute to limiting registration within any division, including but not limited to the number of volunteers and availability of practice fields. Once a division has been filled, a waiting list is created from which players may be placed on a team if another player drops or additional coaches are secured.
In an attempt to balance teams correctly, we cannot accept requests for your child to be with specific coaches, or children to be placed on same teams as other children. Only the coach's own children, and siblings within the same division are guaranteed to be on same team.

Registration Age Breakdown

Registration Age Breakdown

AYSO switched to a school-year age matrix with an August 1 cutoff to determine player divisions, aligning with U.S. Soccer and other major youth soccer organizations. Under this model, a player’s division is based on their age during the school-year timeframe of August 1 through July 31.
For Example: A player who is 5 years old on August 1 will play in the 6U division for that Fall season.

This age group cutoff aligns soccer age groups with school-year peers, helping more players participate and stay in the game with their classmates and friends. To help determine the appropriate division for your child, please refer to the age chart above, which follows U.S. Soccer school-year guidelines. For more information about age group formation, click here to be redirected to the U.S. Soccer website.

FRIEND REQUESTS ARE NOT PERMITTED

Per AYSO guidelines Friend Requests are not permitted for standard Core/Competitive play. All players will be randomly placed on teams through our registration portal.

Coach Requests

All AYSO Volunteers are required to complete a background check, safety training, and division specific coaches training before being assigned to a team.

Volunteers are assigned to teams based on need and availability. An approved head coach may request for one assistant coach to be assigned to their team. The assistant coach MUST complete the required background check, safety training, and division specific coaches training before being assigned to a team. Teams are formed by end of June to ensure uniforms can be ordered and delivered before the first day of games.

If a head coach or assistant has not completed the required training, their registered players will be assigned to a team based on 1) time of player registration and 2) balanced teams guidelines. Players will be assigned to their parent volunteer team by default. To assist with this process, players and volunteers should register using the same AYSO232 account.

At AYSO, we believe balanced teams are essential to creating a positive experience for every player. By forming teams with a mix of skill levels, we ensure games are fair, competitive, and fun—giving all players the opportunity to develop, stay engaged, and build confidence. This approach supports our commitment to player development over winning and helps create an environment where every child can succeed and enjoy the game.

Waitlist Information

The waitlist is usually turned on after the regular registration deadline or if the maximum number (cut off number) has been reached prior to the last day of registration.
  • We utilize the waitlist as a "pause button" to determine if we can make more teams or to "fill in" for dropped players.
  • Moving off of the waitlist may take a few weeks and some patience, but you will be contacted via email if your player has been "activated" from the waitlist.
  • Once you are activated from the waitlist, you have 48 hours to pay to get your child on the team at that point.
  • No player that registers is guaranteed to play, as this is ALWAYS based on the number of VOLUNTEER coaches that are available for your child's division.
  • It's possible that a player can jump off of the waitlist if a parent of a waitlisted player volunteers to be a HEAD coach for the division where coaches are still needed. Please contact us if interested.
  • Players are put back on the waitlist in a backwards chronological order to instill fairness for our process, if we run out of volunteer coaches.
